People-to-People Diplomacy and Engagements

Example: Global Peace agenda under the Sister Cities International (SCI) and branding Kenya on the world stage. Participation in the launch of American Studies at the University of Nairobi with Prof. Patrick Maluki, Department of Diplomacy and International Studies (DDIS). Raleigh and Nairobi are Sister Cities, Fall/Autumn 2022. Several embassy missions, local government officials, business leaders, the body of students and faculty, and the community at large were present, including the deputy Mayor of Denver, Colorado, United States.

Diaspora engagement initiatives

Example: Kenya’s IEBC and Commission of Integration & Cohesion conference in Raleigh, NC, Summer 2010, Nairobi City Council leaders from Water and Waste Management Benchmarking in Raleigh, Summer 2019, Kenya’s Jamhuri Celebrations at 60 at the Governor's Mansion, December 2024

Example: Centers of Excellence courtesy Myles of Great Hopes – Scratch A Mind (MOGH-SAM), Ilbissil, Kajiado, and Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology Primary and Junior School Initiatives on education aligning with Kenya’s CBC curriculum – Summer, 2024

Strategic convening and dialogue facilitation

Example: National Museums of Kenya (NMK) and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences (NCMNS), 2018 in Raleigh, North Carolina. An initiative made possible by RTI International, which JGCD facilitated alongside Nairobi-Raleigh Sister Cities and Myles of Great Hopes

Strategic spearhead of occasional Satellite routine Immigration Consular Services with the Kenya Embassy

Example: Kenya Embassy conducted a 3-day satellite consulate services in Raleigh, North Carolina, where more than 600 Kenyans were served. The ambassador attended high-profile meetings to enhance Kenya’s interests. JGCD led efforts in collaboration with the Nairobi–Raleigh Sister Cities and a local Kenyan church – Feb 2026

High-Level Diplomatic Panel Engagement

Example: Co-Chaired a panel with Kenyan Ambassador Winter 2026 at the North Carolina Agricultural Building facilitated by the Secretary of State and the Agriculture Commissioner – Raleigh NC Clearer content to be added

Example: University of Nairobi and North Carolina State University Service Learning through Myles of Great Hopes – Spring/Summer 2028, Taking shape now and in consultation with Dr. Patrick Maluki, University of Nairobi, and the North Carolina State University (Michele Kurtz) and her leadership team on Civic Engagement and Community Service
